Cost-effective Dual Enrollment Courses

DODO Updates

The #1 Directory of Online Dual-enrollment Options

How We Keep It Current

We spend LOTS of time keeping DODO updated.

Every...

Fall Semester,

Spring Semester, and

Summer Semester

we comb through mind-numbing reams of university pages to find changes in prices, admissions rules, schedules, dual-enrollment courses, associates degrees and much more dual enrollment information.

So we thought we'd show you what we find.

We spend LOTS of time keeping DODO updated.

Every Fall, Spring, and Summer semester of every year we comb through mind-numbing reams of university pages to find changes in prices, admissions rules, schedules, dual-enrollment courses on offer, associates degrees and much more dual enrollment information.

So we thought we'd show you what we find.

Changing admissions policies!

One thing we see colleges change is their dual-enrollment admissions policies -- usually without warning.

  • They might lower their minimum age, substitute an interview for a required reference, or tighten up their minimum SAT requirement.

Application fees -- what you pay to get the whole ball rolling -- can change, too.

  • App fees get raised, lowered, added and deleted.

  • Dual-Enrollment Tip: Colleges will often waive an app fee completely for dual-enrollment students, if you ask. Something like "Is there an application fee for dual-enrollment students?" usually reminds administrators to tell you their fee-waiving code.

  • Colleges occasionally decide to add an admissions deposit to the mix, (generally refundable if you're not accepted, and generally applied to tuition if you are accepted), in an effort to weed out frivolous applications.

And due to Covid-19, some universities have temporarily eliminated their SAT and ACT test score requirements.

  • But we don't expect that bit of good news to last forever.  Sorry about that.

So there's a regular stream of changes to keep track of in university admissions policies.

But we're not complaining...

Updating admissions policies is actually interesting.

  • We're constantly amazed by the incredible diversity of admissions policies in the world of US tertiary institutions...

  • And we get to see how admissions policies fluctuate in response to world events, student lifestyles and the global economy.

And, since admission policies determine the makeup of a university's population...

They play a huge part in creating each university's unique vibe.

So they're kind of a window into each unversity's personality.

We like updating admissions policies! It's one of our favorite jobs.

Updated, downdated (and rotating!) course lists

Universities frequently change which courses they allow dual enrollment students to take.

(Sometimes adding whole departments’ worth of courses to the list...

and ditching others.)

Many also rotate their dual-enrollment offerings.  With half the courses offered in even years, and the other half in odd years.

But as every college will tell you...

There are no course-availability guarantees.

Courses can change up to the last minute.

We update DODO's course list twice a year to make sure it shows courses typically offered at each school over the last two year course rotation.

The fast-blur price list!

It's unavoidable.

Universities regularly change their prices.

For everything.

Tuition costs, per-course fees, tech fees, per-semester fees.  Etc.

You might think that prices always go up.

But nope.

We've seen colleges eliminating whole swathes of fees -- for dual enrollment students -- recently.

And while some schools have continued the traditional 'just a few bucks more for tuition this year' price-increase...

A fair number have dramatically lowered their tuition for DE courses.

Since price is a key factor for most dual-enrollment students, we do our best to keep this up-to-the-minute for each university in DODO.

So what else could a university change?

New semester... new schedule... no surprise!

College schedules change regularly.

Schools can switch from a full-semester term to an 8-week class format.

Or decide to offer 6-week, 8-week, 10-week and 16-week classes all in the SAME semester.

And summer terms can be added or subtracted without warning from year to year.

At DODO, we track schedules for every dual-enrollment program we list...

So you can easily pick universities with programs that fit your study window.

Does DODO add new dual-enrollment colleges?

You bet!

We especially love adding niche universities that 'nobody has heard of.'

With geeky courses.

Or alternative teaching methods.

Or a department that leads its field in a new technology.

Or an overall philosophy that's just ....   different!

It means we get to tell DODO users about more options and more opportunities.

DODO Updates. The bottom line.

 All that to say...

Updates are a huge part of our job at DODO.

We research the dual-enrollment data for every university in DODO at least twice a year -- and carefully update any changes we find.
